Home Office Invites Individuals to use IDV App to Reuse Biometric Information

On August 18, the Home Office issued a communication to stakeholders confirming that individuals will be invited to use the Identity Verification application (IDV app), in order to reuse their biometric information already submitted and recorded.

The invitations are to be staggered in accordance with the initial application date of the individual in question.

(COVID-19) New Guidance for Visa Applicants Published by the Home Office

The Home Office has published new guidance for visa applicants affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Updated on August 14, the ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19): advice for UK visa applicants and temporary UK residents’ webpage now states that those with leave to remain in the UK for six months or less as a visitor, fiancé(e) or otherwise can switch to a family or private life route until August 31.

A new concession has also been introduced, which states that those who are unable to apply for a visa at their local centre due to COVID-19 restrictions can make their application via any visa centre in any country, subject to the entry requirements of the country.

No restrictions have been indicated by the Home Office regarding the type of application that can be made, though the concession is set to be reviewed on November 30.
