Tier 4 Student Visa

International students interested in studying at a UK college or university usually require a Tier 4 General Student Visa. Students from all over the world flock to the UK to take advantage of some of the most renowned educational institutions in history. Along with the most exceptional teaching standards and comprehensive course availability, the UK education system is also famed for its robust infrastructure and liberal attitude to the inclusion of overseas students.

Here at Aristone Solicitors, we acknowledge the importance of every Tier 4 General Student Visa application. We know that this one formality could have a marked impact on the entire life of the applicant. That’s why we go the extra mile to provide every client with the support they need to get their application right the very first time.

In order to qualify for a Tier 4 General Student Visa, UK immigration legislation requires a minimum of 40 points:

  • 30 points – Certificate of Acceptance to Study (CAS) Number
  • 10 points – Maintenance

The Certificate of Acceptance to Study (CAS) Number refers to the formal offer provided by a recognised educational institution. The CAS number will typically include supporting documentation and information as to how the institution assessed the eligibility and suitability of the student.

Along with presentation of a formal offer from an educational institution, the applicant must also submit evidence of sufficient finances to cover their living costs during their stay. Maintenance requirements vary in accordance with location – students attending colleges and universities in London face higher financial requirements. The applicant must also demonstrate their capacity to pay all applicable tuition fees and course costs.
